Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Payables Specialist to join our dynamic team at a leading wholesale insurance brokerage. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing premium accounting payables for thousands of insurance policies. The primary responsibility involves processing a high volume of payments from retailers, deducting our commission, and disbursing funds to insurance carriers. The team processes approximately 30,000 payments per month to carriers, ensuring payments are sent out only after confirming receipt from the retailer.

  • Process approximately 1500 invoices per month, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
  • Reconcile statements received from insurance carriers to the corresponding invoices in our system.
  • Queue up payments for dispatch only after confirming receipt of funds from the retailer.
  • Address aged items promptly by collaborating with the Accounts Receivable team to identify and resolve payment delays.
  • Manage a significant volume of data without the need for GL coding, focusing on data processing efficiency.
  • Communicate professionally with contacts at insurance carriers, utilizing email correspondence to address payment-related inquiries.


  • 2+ years of accounts payable experience in high-volume environments.
  • Previous experience in insurance payables- required.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, with the ability to sort data and understand downloading processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when assigned specific carriers within a designated section of the alphabet.
  • Ability to handle a large dataset efficiently, emphasizing a focus on volume management.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated through professional and effective email correspondence with contacts at insurance carriers.
