Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paralegal with expertise in intellectual property (IP) law, patent licensing, and global legal research to join their team. The primary responsibility of this role is to support attorneys and clients in all aspects of IP portfolio management, including patent prosecution, licensing agreements, and legal research on global IP matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent law, excellent research skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of patent prosecution, including drafting and filing patent applications, responding to office actions, and communicating with patent offices worldwide.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on domestic and international patent law, regulations, and case law to support client matters and strategic decision-making.
  • Review and analyze patent portfolios, patent licenses, and other IP agreements to ensure compliance with legal requirements and client objectives.
  • Assist in the negotiation, drafting, and review of patent licensing agreements, technology transfer agreements, and other IP-related contracts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patent filings, prosecution activities, and IP-related correspondence using electronic databases and case management systems.
  • Coordinate with external counsel, patent agents, and foreign associates to facilitate patent filings, prosecution, and maintenance activities globally.
  • Assist with due diligence reviews and IP audits in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and licensing transactions.
  • Prepare and coordinate filings with patent offices, including the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign patent offices.
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and preparing legal documents and correspondence.


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department, with a focus on intellectual property (IP) law and patent prosecution.
  • Strong understanding of patent law and procedures, including patent prosecution, licensing, and enforcement.
  • Proficiency in legal research techniques and resources, including online databases, libraries, and case law repositories.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and legal software applications.
  • Paralegal certification is preferred but not required.
