Job Title: Purchasing Agent for Manufacturing

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Purchasing Agent for Manufacturing. As a Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process and ensuring the timely acquisition of materials, supplies, and services required for our manufacturing operations. Your expertise in sourcing, negotiating, and supplier management will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Procurement Management: Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management, to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and services.
  2. Supplier Evaluation and Selection: Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities and reliability, conduct supplier audits, and make informed recommendations for supplier selection based on quality, cost, delivery, and other key criteria.
  3. Negotiation: Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers while maintaining strong relationships to achieve cost savings and improve overall supplier performance.
  4. Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers, fostering effective communication, resolving issues, and implementing supplier performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  5. Inventory Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as production, planning, and warehouse teams, to ensure accurate forecasting, adequate inventory levels, and timely replenishment of materials to support production schedules.
  6. Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and monitor market trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement, while ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  7. Contract Management: Review and negotiate contract terms, conditions, and service level agreements with suppliers to ensure compliance, minimize risks, and protect the interests of the organization.
  8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate procurement records, track supplier performance, and generate reports to analyze purchasing trends, identify savings opportunities, and present key findings to management.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in procurement and supply chain management, proactively suggesting and implementing process enhancements and efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent, Buyer, or in a similar procurement role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials used in the industry.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
