Collections Specialist
Contract to Hire
Pay: $18-20/hr
Location: Saint Louis, MO (Hybrid after training)
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Collections Specialist to join this dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have recent collection experience, a deep understanding of billing procedures, and expertise in employing collection techniques. The Collections Specialist will play a crucial role in monitoring accounts, investigating outstanding debts, and ensuring timely payments through effective communication and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts
- Investigate historical data for each debt or bill
- Find and contact clients to inquire about overdue payments
- Take proactive actions to encourage timely debt payments
- Update account status records and document collection efforts
- Generate reports on collection activity and accounts receivable status
Requirements and Skills:
- Recent experience in debt collection
- Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques (e.g., skip tracing)
- Familiarity with laws related to debt collection (e.g., FDCPA)
- Working knowledge of MS Office and databases
- Comfortable working with targets and deadlines
- Patience and ability to manage stress in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong negotiation skills
- Problem-solving abilities
