Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Construction Materials Lab Technician to conduct laboratory testing of a variety of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. Your attention to detail will be key as you perform accurate tests, document findings, and prepare comprehensive reports for review by the Engineer managing the project.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing as instructed, following established procedures and training guidelines.
- Document findings and results clearly and comprehensively.
- Conduct basic data analysis to verify accuracy before communication and submission to the Laboratory/Project Manager.
- Communicate relevant information to the Laboratory/Project Manager and team members as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
- Demonstrate proficiency in multiple areas of laboratory testing, reflecting your experience and expertise.
- Provide leadership to other engineering technicians within the laboratory, when required.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated for accurate testing.
- Adhere to strict safety practices, performing pre-task planning and promptly reporting any safety concerns to management.
- Uphold quality standards across all projects.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in laptop computer use, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- ACI certification in at least one of the following areas or the ability to become ACI Certified within 120 days:
- Concrete Strength Testing Technician Grade I
- Aggregate Base Testing Technician
- Aggregate Laboratory Testing Technician
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Skills-Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to specified testing procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills for accurate documentation and report preparation.
- Basic data analysis skills to ensure the accuracy of results.
- Effective communication skills to convey information to Laboratory/Project Manager and team members.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices.
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance to junior technicians, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and adhering to safety protocols.
- Capable of lifting and moving equipment and materials as required.
